- The Director of Business Development at Vue School is a pivotal role aimed at spearheading our business growth and expansion initiatives. You will be crafting and implementing innovative business development strategies that align with our mission and business goals. Your role is crucial in exploring new markets, forging strategic partnerships, and broadening our business horizons.
- This role requires a combination of visionary strategy, relationship building, and a proactive approach. You will identify and leverage new business opportunities, foster long-term partnerships, and lead efforts to position Vue School as a frontrunner in online developer education.
- As Director of Business Development, your expertise will be instrumental in driving our business growth. You will play a key role in enhancing our market presence and ensuring our educational offerings have a wider and more impactful reach.
- It is important to note that this is a senior position in a small team.
- Extensive Sales/Leadership Background: Looking for someone with at least 15 years, ideally 20, of experience in sales and leadership roles. A track record of successful leadership is a must.
- Start-Up/Scale-Up Insight: Experience in start-up or scale-up environments is highly valued, bringing an understanding of the unique challenges and dynamics of these settings.
- Hands-On Sales Experience: It's crucial that the candidate has previously excelled in a quota-carrying sales role, not just jumped straight into management. This first-hand sales experience is key to understanding the challenges the sales team faces.
- Strategic Business Development:
- Develop and execute business growth plans, identifying new market opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Continuously assess market trends to align business development strategies with industry dynamics.
- CRM Ownership:
- Manage and optimize the CRM system for enhanced sales tracking and customer insights.
- Utilize CRM data for strategic planning and process improvement.
- Sales Engagement:
- Lead key sales meetings and negotiations, both independently and alongside BDMs.
- Product Development Collaboration:
- Work with the product team to align new offerings with market needs and business goals.
- Facilitate client feedback integration into product improvement.
- Relationship Management and Network Expansion:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and clients.
- Expand Vue School's network through strategic alliances and partnerships.
- Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification:
- Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and potential revenue streams.
- Evaluate competitive landscape and adjust business development strategies accordingly.
- Sales and Marketing Synergy:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align business development strategies with marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Ensure the sales team is equipped with the necessary tools and strategies to effectively pursue business development leads.
- Proposal Development and Negotiation:
- Lead the creation of compelling business proposals and engage in high-level negotiations with potential clients and partners.
- Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms for Vue School.
- Reporting and Performance Analysis:
- Regularly report on business development activities, analyzing performance against targets and objectives.
- Utilize data to make informed decisions and to refine business development strategies.

- Network of Industry Contacts: Possesses a strong network of contacts within the Vue.js/JavaScript industry, beneficial for driving sales of Vue School products and securing sponsorships.
